Star Trek first aired in September of 1966. The show had 2 pilots, a rarity in television history. This ground-breaking series was created by Gene Roddenberry, but he had quite a lot of help from others. The original series ran 3 seasons for a total of 79 episodes. It came from briefly in the mid 1970s with an animated show. Movies followed, and eventually more television series. Star Trek is one of the most popular televison franchises to ever exist.
