Warner Bros. apologizes for that first Green Lantern trailer

Are we looking at the dud of the summer?

Any casual observer of this summer’s superhero-movie battle royale can see that Marvel’s trifecta—Captain America: The First Avenger, Thor and X-Men: First Class—is pulling far ahead of DC’s sole entry, Green Lantern. What’s more, Warner Bros. knows it. Speaking to the press during this year’s CinemaCon—in which the various studios parade their wares for those who own and operate movie theaters themselves (and choose what film plays on which screens)—Warners’ worldwide marketing president, Sue Kroll, acknowledged the missteps that came with that first look at Lantern:

“Part of the reason the response to the first trailer was lukewarm was that the big-scale sequences weren’t ready to show, and we suffered for it. … We can’t afford to do that again.”
