A week ago, a new site simply titled Pottermore was launched, and Harry Potter fans by the millions came to scratch their heads at it. What could it possibly be? Today, J.K. Rowling herself announced what Pottermore is and what it will mean for all the would-be sorcerers out there.
So, in a nutshell, Pottermore is a site where fans can interact with one another and with the books themselves. It’s also the space where Rowling can share additional details about the books, character backstories and maybe some fun little side adventures, too.
