I’ve got some catching up to do.
A clearly distraught Director Faber pointed out to me the other day that I have not been posting new episodes of the Needless Things Podcast here on the ESO Network page. At the time I couldn’t remember why, so I just told him that I’ve only actually done two episodes and it’s not like I have the manliness or intestinal fortitude to produce multiple podcasts in a single week like he does. I’m lucky if I can muster the will to crank out one every six weeks.
Which is why I am only now producing my third episode since the beginning of 2013.
I simply don’t have the time to be editing and producing these things. Trying to maintain five posts a week over on Needless Things while still spending quality time with the family and also working my regular job is about as much as I can manage. But if something really special comes along I can do a podcast.
The first episode was about the 30th Anniversary of Masters of the Universe and the state of the franchise today. It was just me and Mr. Beau Brown and was a fun learning experience. There were minor audio issues, but I got it done. You can listen here:

Masters of the Universe 30th Anniversary
The second episode – and the one Director Faber was so upset about me not posting – was a roundtable discussion about Toy Fair 2013 with Mr. Beau Brown, Josh Wilson, Jay Hornsby, Ryan Schweck, and a special segment from Reverend Dan Wilson. We had a great time talking, but production was a pain in the posterior. There was an audio issue throughout that I had to address along with a couple of other minor issues. But in the end I got it done and am very proud of it.
Now, you might be wondering why you would still want to listen to a podcast about something that happened two months ago. But you should because Toy Fair is about the toy manufacturer’s plans for all of 2013. Most of what we discussed still hasn’t even hit retail, so there’s plenty of information there. Plus, we’re just a very entertaining bunch of fellows. Give it a listen:

And that brings me up to date for Episode 3. I explain all of this in the intro, but the third episode ended up being my dream show. You see, I never really planned on hosting my own podcast. Like I said – I really don’t have the time for it. I’ve been working with Director Faber since February of last year and I enjoy it very much. There’s nothing I like more than running my mouth and then being able to listen to it afterwards.
But I had the opportunity to meet one of my favorite musical groups – Le Sexoflex – last October. I asked them if they would be willing to do a Q&A for the site and they were up for it. But they were so nice and what they do is so entertaining that I wanted more. Over the course of our discussions as to what and when, it occurred to em that I wanted to sit down and have an actual conversation. I’d been listening to a lot of Marc Maron’s WTF Podcast and I wanted to do that with these guys. That’s why I started doing the Needless Things Podcast.
I got a couple of episodes in the can so that I could get any majorly stupid errors out of the way and then let Miss Lady Flex know that I was ready to record whenever they were. And that’s what we’ve got today.
I’m extremely proud of this one, but I must warn you that there is some dirty talk in here. That’s one of the reason I haven’t been super on top of posting these to ESO – it seems mostly kind of family-friendly over here and I don’t observe such restrictions. We don’t get filthy, but there are definitely quite a few colorful metaphors. Don’t let Granny or the kids listen. The other reason that I only just remembered the other night while trying to post Episode 3 the first time is that I can’t embed the Podbean player here on WordPress and it irritated the crap out of me. So I just have to put in links, instead:

I really hope you guys enjoy it. Please share this one. I mean, share all of them – they’re all good – but this is the one I put my heart and soul into.
Episode 4 will be about Weird Al. As soon as I told Director Faber about it he scheduled an ESO about Weird Al. Jerk!
