It’s no secret that Fox 2000 is producing a sequel to Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief. But we’re shocked to learn one of our favorite actors has joined the cast—Nathan Frakkin’ Fillion.
Fillion is a fanboy favorite, so this is a major grab for producers of Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Sea of Monsters . The actor will join returning stars Logan Lerman (Percy), Alexandra Daddario (Annabeth) and Brandon T. Jackson (Grover).
In The Sea of Monsters, Fillion will pull double duty as a god and father to Percy’s nemesis Luke (Jake Abel). Fillion will appear as the deity Hermes, who was originally played by Dylan Neal in The Lightning Thief. If we weren’t interested in this movie before, it’s definitely got our attention now.
Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief was directed by Chris Columbus and earned $226.5 million at the worldwide box office. For the sequel, Columbus will stay on and produce, while Thor Freudenthal (Diary of a Wimpy Kid) takes over directing.
Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Sea of Monsters is scheduled to hit theaters March 26, 2013.
Does this make you look forward to The Sea of Monsters?
