If you’re a comic book store owner, you could spend $150 for a special “Green Lantern Animated Light-Up display,” based on a variant cover of Green Lantern #50, with art by Jim Lee and Scott Williams. But you really, really shouldn’t.
These displays, designed for the purpose of catching the eyes of people walking by on the street and luring them into your comic book store, have a minor defect. Although the details are slim, it seems as if they, um, catch fire.
And according to Bleeding Cool, other comic book stores reporting smelling smoke after plugging in their displays, “And now DC has informed retailers to unplug the signs and await further instructions.”
