Perhaps hoping that our collective pop-cultural memory has forgotten 2003’s Daredevil—which squeezed Ben Affleck into Matt Murdock’s red-leather evening wear—Fox and Marvel are taking another run at adapting the Man Without Fear.
To be fair, the Affleck flick isn’t quite as bad as we remember it to be, taken on its own merits—it’s just that it was a far cry from what Daredevil ought to be. Aiming to rectify that, director David Slade (30 Days of Night, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse) is reportedly leaning on Frank Miller and David Mazzuchelli’s classic “Born Again” story arc, in which the Kingpin learns Daredevil’s secret identity and proceeds to dismantle the blind crimefighter’s life, piece by piece.
