Summer 2013 will be the season of The Avengers aftermath with a third Iron Man and now second Thor picture on the calendar.
Marvel Studios and Disney have tonight announced that Thor will return for a other solo adventure on July 26th, 2013. At the same time, they’ve said that Kenneth Branagh will not be returning to direct.
Branagh will instead be directing Italian Shoes, based upon the novel by Henning Mankel. Just this last week or so , that project was awarded funding by the BFI. I wouldn’t be surprised to hear that the timing of Marvel’s announcement wasn’t purely coincidental.
Anybody going to offer me odds on a 2013 return for Captain America too? Though, actually, my hunch is we’ll not see him again until 2014, probably sharing the summer months with a new Hulk picture, or maybe Nick Fury of SHIELD. Blind guesswork.
