Laurence Fishburne has a new job … and it’s at the Daily Planet. Move over, Morpheus, and see you later, CSI, this Oscar-nominated actor has bigger fish to fry in Metropolis!
Fishburne has officially joined the cast of Zack Snyder’s Superman reboot Man of Steel as the hard-hitting, no-nonsense Perry White. He’s the editor-in-chief of the Daily Planet and the workhorse boss of Clark Kent, Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen.
In the past, White has been played by a plethora of talented actors, including Jackie Cooper, Frank Langella and Michael McKean, so Fishburne’s in good company. This news comes shortly after he left his role on CSI, which left us wondering what was next.
There must be something in the water over at Warner Bros., because not only did they scoop Fishburne, but they also cast Christopher Meloni five seconds after he left his 12-year gig on Law & Order: SVU. It sounds like Superman is the new hot ticket in town … again.
Man of Steel’s growing cast now includes Fishburne, Meloni, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Julia Ormond and Russell Crowe.
